Keppel Bay was named by Captain James Cook. Lined by picturesque beaches, mountains, and rainforest the bay offers a truly unique experience of bush and beach for visitors and residents.

Yeppoon is the largest town on the coast of Keppel Bay and a stepping off point for exploration of the local islands, most notably Woppa, or Great Keppel Island. With a name possibly derived from the language of the local Darumbal people, Yeppoon has been the go to social destination for many families and travellers over the years, who have come to enjoy the beautiful weather and safe beaches.

In this booklet Coorooman Press has collected historic photographs and prints of Yeppoon. These photos present life in the old town in a shock of colour that renders the past alive.

Please enjoy.

We at Coorooman Press pay yadaba (respect) to the Darumbal people, the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work; and to the Darumbal elders of the past, the present and those emerging. We also pay respect to the Woppaburra as the traditional custodians of our beautiful Woppa — Great Keppel Island.
